Ole Miss junior wide receiver Ja-Mes Logan said he and the rest of the team’s receivers have something to prove heading into the 2011 season. OM’s Shackelford, Neat suffer minor injuries Tuesday
Preparations for Saturday’s home game against Fresno State resumed Tuesday for the Ole Miss Rebels, who ending up losing two impact players during the session.
Sophomore linebacker D.T. Shackelford suffered a sprained ankle during Tuesday’s practice, while freshman running back/wide receiver Korvic Neat suffered a strained hamstring. (September 22, 2010, Page 6)
‘Dores take advantage of Rebel miscues in win
Missed assignments, general miscues and turnovers continued to plague the Ole Miss Rebels at the most important times of their 28-14 loss to Vanderbilt on Saturday afternoon at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
The Rebels (1-2 overall, 0-1 in the Southeastern Conference) lost their second home game of the season by playing unsound football at the most critical times of the game. Instead of jumping out to an early lead in the first quarter on a wide-open pass play, the Rebels, and more specifically tight end Ferbia Allen, found a way to let the opportunity drop through their fingers.
Rebel offensive line continues to deal with shuffled lineup
Ole Miss’ offensive line continued to have its struggles in Saturday’s 28-14 loss to Vanderbilt at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The line was unable to gain a consistent push on short yardage plays in the first half which led to another shuffle in personnel. Redshirt freshman Michael Brown started the game at right guard but he was replaced in the second quarter by junior Logan Clair.
Offensive line coach Mike Markuson, who also serves as the team’s co-offensive coordinator, said he was planning to play both Brown and Clair and that after Brown gave up a sack, he thought it was time to make a change. (September 20, 2010, Page 2B)
