Water Valley is on its first two-game winning streak of the season and controls its own destiny in regards to reaching the MHSAA Class 3A playoffs. WATER VALLEY — The Water Valley Blue Devils began their Region 2-3A slate with a 40-17 loss to Charleston on Friday at Bobby Clark Field. The Blue Devils (3-4 overall) got a touchdown run from Kirkland Horton and a touchdown pass from quarterback Jonathan Kent, but it wasn’t nearly enough to keep up with the No. 3-ranked Tigers (4-2, 1-0), who quickly wore down a depleted Blue Devil defense in another blowout victory in the series. SENATOBIA— It was Courtland Barnes’ and Tevin Wooten’s world Friday night. For about three hours, Water Valley had to live in it. Barnes and Wooten spearheaded a punishing rushing attack for Senatobia in a 63-36 win over the Blue Devils in Senatobia. (September 21, 2014, Page 1B)
Just like last season, the Water Valley Blue Devils football team will begin its 2014 campaign against the New Albany Bulldogs Friday night. The Blue Devils will look to have the same result as last season when they beat the Bulldogs 38-13 in New Albany. (August 21, 2014, Page 6)
The Blue Devils’ football program had a successful evening on the gridiron Tuesday to conclude the 2010 season, as the seventh-grade team defeated South Pontotoc 32-0 and the eighth-grade Blue Devils also defeated the Cougars 28-6.
