Precision passing and a solid defensive effort were just some of the many reasons the Oxford eighth-grade football team posted a 40-0 win over Grenada on Tuesday night at Bobby Holcomb Field. SENATOBIA — A clean sweep. That’s what the Oxford seventh- and eighth-grade football teams earned Thursday with wins over Senatobia.

BATESVILLE — The Oxford Middle School football squads made quick work of South Panola on the road Thursday with the seventh-grade squad claiming a 20-8 victory, while the eighth-grade Chargers earned a 14-8 victory. (September 9, 2011, Page 9A)
Tuesday’s action on the gridiron proved that when the Oxford seventh graders claimed a 20-8 victory, while the Lafayette eighth-grade squad was able to hold on for a big 20-16 win. (August 31, 2011, Page 6A)
The Oxford seventh- and eighth-grade boys basketball teams had no problem pulling off a sweep of South Pontotoc Thursday night in the teams first action since the Christmas break. The eighth-graders defeated South Pontotoc 48-25 thanks to 13 points from Josh Gibbs, eight points from K.T. McCollins and seven points each from David Dennis and Michael McGhee. McGhee and McCollins each had five blocks in the win for the Chargers, who are now 12-2 overall.
Lafayette’s eighth-grade football team remained perfect on the season Tuesday night with its second win over Oxford, while the seventh-grade Chargers used early miscues by the Commodores to help post a 22-8 win at William L. Buford Stadium.
