LHS softball cruises past Bruce

The Lafayette Lady Commodores softball team made quick work of Bruce on Thursday, cruising to a 16-6. Kelsey Kesler picked up the complete-game win for Lafayette and also tallied a triple. (more…) (March 11, 2011, Page 8A)

Lady ‘Dores knock off WVHS

A complete team effort proved to be the key to a 3-0 (25-9, 25-18, 25-6) win for the Lafayette Lady Commodores over the Water Valley Lady Blue Devils Tuesday.

A day after LHS defeated Senatobia to win its first district match of the season, the team turned around Tuesday and recorded another important district win over WVHS. LHS topped Senatobia 3-0 on Monday and then handled Water Valley with the use of a solid service game and aggressive kill shots.

For LHS coach Rachel Wenzel, playing back-to-back days was a good thing because her team will have to play three matches on Saturday in the Tupelo Volleyfest. (August 25, 2010, Page 9)

Great effort not enough to lift Lady ‘Dores to win

A gritty effort ultimately wasn’t enough to lift the Lafayette Lady Commodores past Kosciusko in a must-win playoff game Monday evening.

LHS was eliminated from the MHSAA’s Class 4A playoffs by the Lady Whippets 4-3 in eight innings despite leaving every ounce of energy on the field. (May 4, 2010, Page 8)

Lafayette scores runs by the bunches in win over BHS

A steady supply of runs early and often led to the Lafayette softball team’s lopsided 13-1 victory over Byhalia at home on Thursday. (April 23, 2010, Page 6A)

LHS softball clobbers Center Hill

A nine-run fifth inning put the finishing touches on a one-sided win for the Lafayette Lady Commodore softball team Saturday at Center Hill. The Lady Commodores beat their region foe 16-1 by scoring 12 runs in the fourth and fifth innings combined. Stormy Robison earned the win for LHS, while Kendall Glass, Corey Hollis, Kelsey Kesler and Katrina Wilson all had multiple hits. Wilson had a double, while Hollis had a triple. LHS will be back in action Tuesday at Byhalia. (April 19, 2010, Page 3B)

LHS softball team tops Southaven

A solid pitching performance by Stormy Robison helped lift the Lafayette Lady Commodores softball team to a 4-1 win over Southaven Tuesday night at LHS. (April 14, 2010, Page 3B)

Kesler leads LHS to win over Lady Devils

A disappointing one-run loss to Lewisburg on Friday night was quickly washed away by the Lafayette Lady Commodores in their 13-0 win over Water Valley Saturday afternoon.

LHS lost 10-9 to Lewisburg after leading 9-1 going into the fifth inning, a result that was not even a factor for the Lady Commodores less than 24 hours later. (April 12, 2010, Page 2B)

Robison solid again for Lady ‘Dores

Backed by another standout pitching performance from Stormy Robison, the Lafayette Lady Commodores defeated Water Valley 6-1 Saturday at LHS.

Two days after Robison recorded a no-hitter against divisional-foe Senatobia at home, she recorded a one-hit effort against a very good Lady Blue Devil team that started the season with eight-straight wins. (April 5, 2010, Page 6A)

No chance: Robison no-hits SHS

Stormy Robison has accomplished a lot during her high school career, so maybe that’s why the Lafayette senior acted like it was old hat when she not only helped her squad beat the Senatobia Lady Warriors 10-0 in six innings on Thursday, but also pitched a no-hitter in the process. (April 2, 2010, Page 6A)

LHS softball clobbers Center Hill

Lafayette’s softball team pounded out 18 hits and used a great defensive performance to back up the pitching of Kelsey Kesler in a 17-0 win over Center hill Tuesday night. (March 24, 2010, Page 8A)
