‘Lady Dores get complete-game win
Once things got rolling on offense for the Lafayette Lady Commodores on the softball field Tuesday night, they didn’t stop until the game was completely in their favor. LHS defeated the Lady Chargers 11-2 at Oxford thanks to a potent offense, strong pitching from starter Kelsey Kesler and another flawless performance on defense. (March 7, 2012)
OMS, LMS work out kinks in Classic
A split in middle school softball action between Lafayette and Oxford at the Charger Classic Friday evening was secondary to the valuable playing time and experience earned on the field for the two teams.

OHS rides fast starts to crosstown sweep
Quick starts in all three matches by Oxford, coupled with Lafayette’s inability to get into a groove until it was too late, led to the Lady Chargers claiming a 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-23) victory in the Crosstown Classic’s volleyball edition at the OHS gym on Thursday.
The match marked the first time in three seasons that the Lady Chargers have come away with the crosstown victory.

Leadership is a quality that all coaches, at any level and in any sport, hope to get from a few key players each season. It’s an intangible that helps a team define the path to victory as well as deal with the agony of defeat.

Lafayette’s Hollis wins MVP award
Led by Corey Hollis as the District 2-4A MVP, six Lafayette Lady Commodores were selected the All-District team recently. Joining Hollis on the team were Kelsey Kesler, M.C. Pate, Cameron Mize, Rae Drewrey, Avery McCullough and Kendall Glass as an honorable mention. (May 23, 2011, Page 7)
Lafayette softball captures region
Lafayette’s girls softball team continued to play well and demonstrate a potent offense with a 21-2 win over Byhalia on Tuesday night. Lafayette claims season sweep over WVHS
A heartbreaking one-run loss to Senatobia last Friday night is something the Lafayette Lady Commodores didn’t allow to linger on Tuesday against the Water Valley Blue Devils. Instead of playing flat and unfocused, LHS was able to overcome the setback with a 6-3 home win over the Lady Blue Devils to sweep the season series.
Six different players recorded at least one hit in the victory that saw LHS break a 2-2 tie with four runs in the third inning. (more…) (March 30, 2011, Page 7)
