The Lady Commodores left little doubt on their end who deserves to be in the upcoming MHSAA Class 4A playoffs.
After dropping their last two division games, the Lady Commodores pieced together a near perfect effort to up-end crosstown rival Oxford 9-1 on the road.
It took the Lady Commodores a little while to get warmed up Tuesday night. Once Lafayette’s bats got going, however, there was no turning back as the Lady ‘Dores run-ruled New Albany 14-4 to open their division schedule.
Friday night’s Crosstown Classic softball game with Oxford came down to the pitching of Lafayette’s Brooke Whitten. While the Lady Commodores got a couple of key insurance runs late in the 6-0 win, Whitten really didn’t need much help based on the effort she gave in the pitching circle. A 17-hit attack on offense higlighted the Lafayette Lady Commodores’ 8-3 win over Class 6A Horn Lake Thursday night. Six players had at least two hits in the win, while three players — Kendall Glass, Emily Robinson and Moesha Phillips — each had three hits in the win.
