Chargers finish third in 5A meet

Oxford lifters looking to contend for title
Oxford powerlifting coach Jason Russell will have a full bus of athletes with him when he heads to Jackson for Saturday’s annual MHSAA state meet in the Mississippi Colisuem. The Chargers have eight lifters who qualified for the meet, while the Lady Chargers boast five.
Russell, who is in his fourth year leading both programs, has seen both of his teams improve gradually through the years and this season, both have excelled. (April 13, 2012, Page 7A)

Liggins’ leadership, dedication paced LHS in 2011
There were a lot reasons why the Lafayette Commodores finished the season ranked No. 1 overall in the state and with a second straight MHSAA Class 4A state title trophy to put on display. A bevy of talented players and a very organized coaching staff are at the top of the list of reasons why the Commodores reeled off another 16-0 season, but leadership provided by key players was also a major reason for the immense success.
