Keke Fondon

Fondon shines in loss to Lady Rebels

Growing up, once KeKe Fondon transitioned from the softball field to the basketball court anyway, she dreamed of running up and down the hardwood at the C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum, 20 minutes north of her hometown of Water Valley.

On Wednesday her dream came true. Only, instead of playing in Ole Miss’ red and blue, she was knocking down shots for the visiting Mississippi Valley State Devilettes.

Despite coming out on the losing end of a 68-57 decision, Fondon played a versatile role for the Devilettes. (December 16, 2010, Page 4B)

Former area hoopsters honored

Four area high school standout basketball players were recently honored for their accomplishments at Northwest Mississippi Community College. Former Oxford High Lady Chargers, Tamara Wadlington and Hope Adams, and Water Valley’s KeKe Fondon, were all honored with postseason honors for helping lead the Lady Rangers to the MACJC North Division title. (March 12, 2010, Page 8A)
