OXFORD TOWN – Tad Smith (portrayed here by actor Jim McCauley) and other Spirits of Oxford have reloaded and are back for their third season of education and entertainment at St.Peter’s Cemetery on Friday, Oct. 22. Pages 9 and 16 in this week’s issue of Oxford Town give details of what is quickly becoming one of Oxford’s staple outings – a “can’t miss” event that raises funds for the restoration of the city-owned Cedar Oaks mansion. Potential bond referendum voters discussed the issue in a town hall setting on Tuesday night at the Oxford High School cafeteria. Oxford residents discussed their support for the new high school and concerns about voting on an issue when not all the information is available – such as where the new school would be built and when the athletic facilities would be moved.
A vote is set for Oct. 26 for a $30 million bond referendum to build a new high school and renovate existing schools. (October 13, 2010, Page 1, 3)
A day-long event called “Fun in the Country” festival will be held on Monday, Sept. 6, sponsored by St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and organized by Lynn Wells (pictured). Money raised from the event will benefit great local charities. Check out Page 20 of this week’s Oxford Town for full details over the first fun-filled family event of the Fall set for Labor Day.
