Lafayette’s Rafnson wins Player of the Year award

On a senior-laden Lafayette volleyball squad this season, it was junior Charlotte Rafnson that stood out most.

Despite being a first-time starter at libero, Rafnson was an integral part of a Lady Commodores team that advanced to the North Half title game and finished with a 16-7 record, and because of Rafnson’s leadership and acrobatic playing style, she is the 2010 Oxford EAGLE Player of the Year. (November 16, 2010, Page 1B)

3-0 win not enough for Lady Commodores

Last season’s run to the Class 4A state tournament has lit a fire under the Lafayette Lady Commodores volleyball team.

That fact was never more evident than on Tuesday, when despite beating Water Valley 3-0 (25-18, 25-11, 25-14) the Lady Commodores still wanted more. (September 1, 2010, Page 7)

Grads say goodbye

The graduates of Lafayette and Oxford high schools celebrated over the weekend as their journey through grade school came to a close.
Both graduation ceremonies were held at  C.M. “Tad” Coliseum on the University of Mississippi campus; Lafayette ’s was held Friday night and Oxford’s was on Saturday afternoon. (May 24, 2010, Page 1A)

Lafayette falls in round 2 of tennis playoffs

Lafayette’s tennis season came to an unfortunate end Thursday as the Commodores lost 5-2 to New Albany in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs. LHS ends the year at 10-4. (April 30, 2010, Page 8A)

LHS netters make quick work of Greenwood

Lafayette’s first-round matchup with Greenwood in the Class 4A tennis playoffs went as expected as the Commodores defeated the Bulldogs 6-1 Thursday at the courts behind Oxford-University Stadium. LHS tennis places second in 2-4A tournament

LHS captures 2-4A tennis title

Lafayette won the Division 2-4A title Thursday with a 5-2 win over Senatobia at the Oxford-University Stadium courts. The Commodores finished with a perfect 6-0 district record and advance into the 4A playoffs for the second straight year. (April 9, 2010, Page 7A)
