Dominant is what the Oxford Lady Chargers were Saturday in the Region 1-5A meet held at Oxford’s Bobby Holcomb Field. Oxford finished first in the meet with 212 points, almost 100 more than second-place finisher Center Hill (117). The Lady Chargers also finished with seven first-place finishes and a bevy of seconds to earn the title. First-place finishes garner 10 points, while second-place finishes garner eight. All season the Oxford High boys cross-country team has shown through its strong times that it was one of the best teams in the state of Mississippi. On Saturday, with the best runners assembled at the MHSAA Class 5A state meet in Clinton, the Chargers punctuated an already fabulous season by winning the overall title. The victory garnered the Chargers their fourth overall state title and first since 1998 and finished the year ranked as the third overall program in the state behind Tupelo and Ocean Springs. Second-year Ole Miss head soccer coach Matt Mott announced the signing of four student-athletes to National Letters of Intent Tuesday.
Kelly McCormick, Kate Anderson, Kristen McBrayer and Mary Louise Clawson have all signed National Letters of Intent to study and play soccer at Ole Miss beginning in the Fall of 2011. The four signees hail from three states, California, Texas and Georgia. (February 24, 2011, Page 7)

Saturday’s Corinth Invitational proved to be more than successful for the Oxford High cross country team as not only did the junior varsity boys place first and the girls place third out of seven teams, but the varsity boys came in fourth while the girls came in sixth out of 19 teams. Despite several runners being absent, the Oxford cross country team was still able to fare well at the Mississippi College Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.
