Lafayette will look to build on the success it garnered in the season opener against Bruce Saturday evening in the annual Coach “C” Shootout. The one-day event will be held in the LHS gym and the Commodores will play host to the Grenada Chargers at approximately 7:30.

The football season can be a long grind on players, even on a championship-caliber squad like Lafayette’s.

LMS, Senatobia all tied up

Lafyaette’s middle school football teams both played to 8-8 ties with Senatobia Tuesday night at William L. Buford Stadium.

In the seventh-grade game, Lafayette (2-3-1 overall) scored first on an 11-yard run by D.Q. Thomas at the 3:30 mark of the first quarter. Quarterback Tyler Williams added the 2-point conversion on a 3-yard run.

Lafayette had a chance to break the tie late, but Senatobia stopped a fourth-down run one yard short of a first down inside the Warriors’ 10-yard line. Lafayette coach Glenn Williams credited the play of Williams with several open-field tackles on defense. (more…) (September 28, 2011, Page 9)

Lafayette JV football tops Grenada

Younger ‘Dores get valuable playing time

A chance to see the next crop of talented football players at Lafayette highlighted the junior varsity game against Charleston on Monday night at William L. Buford Stadium.

Lafayette and Charleston may have played to a 7-7 tie, but the main objective of seeing who can help the varsity as the season moves on was accomplished. (August 23, 2011)
