WVHS Blue Devils cage Jags at home

The Water Valley Blue Devils took care of business in their final non-region game of the season Friday, cruising to a 61-6 victory over J.Z. George at Bobby Clark Field.

The Blue Devils (5-1 overall) excelled in all facets of the game, accumulating 449 total yards of offense, while limiting the Jaguars (2-4) to just 172 total yards. (September 24, 2012, Page 5B)

WATER VALLEY — Water Valley kicker Alex Robles knows his range — really well.

Blue Devils grow in win over CCHS

CALHOUN CITY — The Water Valley Blue Devils grew considerably as a team in their latest game with the Calhoun City Wildcats on Friday night. Instead of losing another heartbreaker to CCHS like Water Valley has the past two years, the Blue Devils defeated the Wildcats 38-21 on the road. The victory not only improved WVHS to 3-0 on the year, but it showed the rest of Class 3A — and head coach Brad Embry — that the program has taken another step toward building a championship team and program. (September 3, 2012, Page 3B)

Brown makes all the grabs to earn Player of Week honor

Football is not supposed to look this easy for Oxford’s Nick Brown. After spending the bulk of his high school career playing for hoops coach Drew Tyler, the 5-foot-10, 155-pound Brown decided to play football this past spring. COFFEEVILLE — The Water Valley Blue Devils left little doubt who was the better squad in the Railroad Trophy Rivalry Game Friday at Coffeeville.
