The Oxford gym provided a rocking atmosphere Friday for Senior Night.
For an athlete that pays attention to heights and has to evaluate situations with his eyes and brain as much as anything, Oxford high jumper Justin Fondren has a great idea of how to measure an important decision and special moment in his life.
Fondren’s latest birthday present today included a scholarship offer from the University of Alabama. A setback at home is not how Oxford Charger coach Drew Tyler wanted to start the Region 1-5A schedule. The Chargers’ first loss in the OHS gym unfortunately came against their most important opponent to date in New Hope.
Despite a second-half surge that saw the Chargers get to within two points twice in the final 1:15, the Trojans were able to hang on and defeat OHS 54-50. (January 9, 2012, Page 6)

Oxford’s energy, merged with its fantastic full-court press on defense, was smothering to the Lady Cougars, who found themselves down 30 points (35-5) at end of the first quarter.
