Oxford High’s seniors played their final game in front of their home fans Thursday night. It played out like the rest of them did this season. The Chargers capped the regular season with a 74-53 victory over Coldwater on Senior Night at the Oxford High gym to continue their push toward the postseason. Next up for Oxford (23-4) is its Division 2-5A tournament opener against fourth-seeded West Point on Tuesday at West Point. (February 13, 2015, Page 6A, 7A)
The day started with Shelby McEwen skying for a putback dunk. It ended with an easy victory for Oxford. In the first school day game in coach Drew Tyler’s 18-year tenure, the Chargers overwhelmed Houston with their athleticism and a bevy of outside shooting to cruise to an 85-59 victory Thursday afternoon at the Oxford High gym. The Oxford Middle School girls and boys basketball teams earned four wins combined over Water Valley on Tuesday night. The seventh-grade girls beat Water Valley 36-12, while the eighth-graders won 31-12.
