Lafayette’s 5-4 loss to North Pontotc at W.V. Brewer Field boiled down to not producing enough offense during the course of the game. Oxford High’s annual golf invitational tournament held at the Country Club of Oxford Tuesday produced a second-place finish for the defending Class 5A champion Chargers. After winning in extra innings against cross-town rival Oxford on Friday night, Lafayette coach Patrick Robey was a little worried about how his team would respond when it hosted Water Valley on Saturday afternoon.
That worry was put to rest though as the Commodores knocked off the Blue Devils 8-1 at W.V. Brewer Field.
