Mavericks rally to end Oxford’s season

MADISON – For the second straight year, Oxford’s postseason stay was a short one. Germantown rallied from an early deficit to score a trio of unanswered goals to defeat the Chargers 3-1 in the opening match of the MHSAA Class 5A playoffs for both teams Tuesday night, making it back-to-back first-round exits for Oxford. (January 28, 2015, Page 2B)

Oxford boys win pair on final day

The Oxford boys soccer team’s patience was tested Saturday. The Chargers were less than 24 hours removed from a 2-2 draw against Olive Branch in their opening match of the Oxford Showcase and found themselves in a scoreless deadlock deep into the second half despite numerous scoring chances against New Hope at FNC Park. But Oxford finally broke through on Tristan Orman’s penalty kick for the match’s only goal, giving the Chargers their first win of the tournament.
