EAGLE honored with 28 MPA awards

The Oxford EAGLE was honored with 28 awards Saturday at the Mississippi Press Association’s annual Better Newspaper Contest. The EAGLE received 10 first-place honors, 13 second-place awards and five third-place awards for the work it published in 2012. (June 24, 2013, Page 3A)

EAGLE named top paper in state — again

For the second year in a row, The Oxford EAGLE has been named the best small daily newspaper in Mississippi. The paper was honored with the General Excellence award and 24 other awards Saturday in Biloxi at the Mississippi Press Association’s annual Better Newspaper Contest. (June 27, 2011, Page 1)

VIDEO — How does a historic, small-town newspaper keep going strong while its big-city peers suffer? That’s the subject of a new 25-minute documentary by Mykki Newton, a videographer and editor at the University of Mississippi Meek School of Journalism and New Media. “The Oxford EAGLE: A Community Newspaper in the Internet Age” features interviews with EAGLE staff members and local readers about the paper’s place in its community. Also, Ole Miss journalism students discuss their take on the field — and reveal just where the next generation gets its daily news.
