Chargers hold off Jackson Prep for opening win

FLOWOOD — It was a game that at times was not pretty and saw a little bit of everything, including both benches being flagged for penalties, but Oxford fought through it to beat Jackson Prep 26-21 on Friday night. Jackson Prep to test Chargers in opener

Oxford uses pair of late TDs to down Tigers

It may have been a jamboree in the middle of August, but the atmosphere inside Vaught-Hemingway Stadium Friday night would have made one assume it was December.  In front of a raucous crowd, the Oxford Chargers stormed back from a 10-0 deficit to defeat Class 6A powerhouse South Panola 14-10 at the Ole Miss Jamboree in a matchup featuring two of the state’s top teams. (August 18, 2014, Page 6)

Oxford, WVHS set for Ole Miss Jamboree

MHSAA moves football title games to Ole Miss, MSU

CLINTON — Mississippi’s high school football state championship games are leaving Jackson.

The Mississippi High School Activities Association announced Monday it will be relocating the MHSAA Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Gridiron Classic State Football Championships for all classifications to the campuses of Ole Miss and Mississippi State. (July 22, 2014, Page 8)

Three OHS athletes tabbed for Hasselman Award

Oxford High School handed out their annual Hasselman award at the end of the school year and for the second time in the award’s history there was a tie. Ethan Holmes and Kendall Jenkins finished in a deadlock after votes were tallied in the boys category. There was not as much drama when votes were counted for the girls award as Brandy Batoon won it. (July 3, 2014, Page 6)
