‘Addams Family takes the stage

The Oxford High School Drama Department will stage “The Addams Family” at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Kayla Mize Auditorium at the Oxford Middle School. General admission tickets for the musical are now available at OHS for $10 for adults and $5 for all students. Theater festival concludes today

OHS students invited to Scotland

Oxford High School Theater students are looking to raise $96,000 between now and summer to take part in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in July. One of the fundraisers will be the Scream Scenes performances this weekend at OHS. (October 28, 2011, Page 1A)

Theater teacher comes full circle with spooky play

Oxford Theater Department presents, “Screems Scenes” this weekend to help raise funds for a trip to Scotland to attend and perform in the Fringe Festival. Director John Davenport put on the show for the first time nine years ago when he first came to OHS as the theater director. This is the fourth time  the popular horror movie themed production has been put on in the last nine years. (October 28, 2011, Page 1B)

Curtain rises on Kayla Gala

The sixth annual endowment fundraiser for the Kayla Sue Mize Endowment opens on Thursday with the show “Cotton Patch Gospel.”

Tickets are $10 at the door. A live auction will be on the final night, Saturday at 5:30. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. (May 25, 2011, Page 1)

‘Firebugs’ invade OHS this week

“Firebugs” is not your typical Oxford High School production. The theater group brings a German satire to the stage. Opening Thursday through Saturday, tickets are for sale at the door for $10 for adults and $5 for students. The play will be performed at 7:30 p.m. nightly. (April 13, 2011, Page 1)

OHS students off to see wizard

The show will go on, just one day later, after Oxford High School theatre postponed the opening of the “Wizard of Oz,” from Thursday to a Friday opening. A Sunday show has been added to make up for the delay that was caused by wintry weather expected to enter the area today. (February 9, 2011, Page 1)

OHS theater students advance to regionals

Oxford High School Theatre students will compete with “Antigone” at the regional level after coming in as runner up last week at the Mississippi Theatre Association competition in Tupelo. The students are also busy this week and next selling the special grand patron, patron and advertiser tickets. (January 25, 2011, Page 6)
