Oxford restaurants in national spotlight

City, OFD crack down on 2 Square restaurants

During a special meeting of the Oxford Board of Aldermen Monday, the board agreed to send a letter to three Square restaurants informing them that they need to either build a second exit or keep their capacity down to 49 or face sanctions for violating state fire codes. (December 7, 2011, Page 2)

Some alarmed by fire code inspections

While few violations were found on the Square, city fire inspectors were double checking occupancy levels at many restaurants and bars on the Square on Thursday night. These inspections are expected to continue through the weekend. There are questions from business owners, however, about the frequency and randomness of the checks. (October 14, 2011, Page 1A)

Downtown Grill to be Bouré’s new home

After a three-year search to find Bouré a new home, its owner, chef John Currence, has teamed up with businessman Stefano Capomazza to purchase the building that has housed the popular fine-dining establishment, the Downtown Grill, for his restaurant. (February 8, 2011, Page 1A)

Some Sunday sales set for Oxford
