Defensive effort keeps Oxford perfect

There was a point midway through the first half of Friday night’s Region 1-5A game between No. 9 Oxford and Lake Cormorant at Bobby Holcomb Field where LCHS head coach Nick Nester threw up his hands in confusion, disgust or both. When an opposing team holds another to negative yards on offense in a half, it can make even the most even tempered of coaches feel desperate and frustrated all at the same time. Oxford avoids trap, tops Warriors

SENATOBIA— Coming off of an emotional win last week, it would have been understandable if the Oxford Chargers played flat Friday at Senatobia.

BLOG: SENATOBIA— Coming off of a big win last week, some Chargers were worried Friday night’s game at Senatobia could end up being a “trap game” for Oxford.

That wasn’t the case, however, as the visiting Chargers jumped out to a 17-point lead and held on to defeat the Warriors 34-14.
