BLOG — Oxford make quick work of the Pearl Pirates Friday night at Bobby Holcomb Field. Another fast start on offense, in both the first and second half, coupled with some big stops on defense, resulted in the Chargers defeating the Pirates 39-21 in the MHSAA Class 5A playoffs. Oxford’s 11-0 regular season wasn’t just noticed by pollsters in the state. The Chargers are ranked fourth in the latest Mississippi prep poll while the coaching staff was honored Tuesday by the Region 1-5A coaches as the Coaching Staff of the Year. (November 13, 2013, Page 8)

Quarterback Jack Abraham and running back Kenzie Phillips each accounted for two touchdowns, K.T. McCollins’ interception return for a score highlighted a stingy defensive effort, and the third-ranked Chargers put a bow on a perfect season with a 45-17 victory over Lake Cormorant Friday night at Bobby Holcomb Field.
