NASCAR’s ‘fun race’ enjoyable for all fans

NASCAR COLUMN – Kyle McElhaney takes a look back at last weekend’s All-Star event with its Sprint Showdown. He talks about the various parts of the all-star race, it’s controversial and exciting ending and what it meant to most drivers and fans. (May 27, 2010, Page 7)

Gordon appears to be recharged

NASCAR COLUMN — Welcome back, Jeff Gordon.

I haven’t seen a fire like this in him since his last championship run in 2001. Yes, he has been close in previous seasons (3rd in 2009, 2nd in 2007, 3rd in 2004) but it seems like his tenacity has returned as well as his drive to win. I don’t think Gordon is returning to the scene to the same hate that fans had towards him when he arrived in NASCAR. The fans are happy to see him extremely competitive this year so maybe he can knock off the current champion. (May 5, 2010, Page 10)

Is it real momentum or just luck?

NASCAR — So early in the season you really have to wonder who has the momentum to carry themselves through the season and into the chase and who just got lucky. In conventional sports, luck plays a huge role and NASCAR is no different. The luckiest guy so far this year has to be Jamie McMurray. (March 4, 2010, Page 7)
