Oxford teams shine in Division 2-5A meet
Led by outstanding individual efforts from Sam Kendricks, Justin Fondren and Kristen Dickerson, the Oxford boys and girls track teams easily won the Division 2-5A meet at Oxford’s Bobby Holcomb Field on Saturday.
The Chargers totaled 150 points, 112 more than second-place finisher West Point. New Hope was third in the boys meet with 31 points, while Saltillo finished fourth with 23. The Lady Chargers finished with 133 points, more than double second-place finisher New Hope with 66. Saltillo was third with 24, while West Point was fourth with 16. (April 25, 2011, Page 1B)
Oxford girls win MHSAA swim title
One year away from the top spot was more than long enough for the Oxford Lady Chargers swim team.
After placing second to Tupelo a year ago, the Lady Chargers reclaimed first in Saturday’s MHSAA State Championship swim meet held at the Biloxi Natatorium, racking up 290.5 points compared to the Golden Wave’s 216. (October 25, 2010, Page 3B)
Lady Chargers claim North Half title
The Oxford High swim team didn’t fool around this past weekend at the North Half Swim Meet hosted by Clinton High, as the Lady Chargers placed first with 328 points and the Chargers placed fourth with 202 points.
Rounding out the top four spots in the girls rankings were Madison Central (255), Tupelo (254) and St. Joseph Catholic (222). On the boys’ side, Tupelo placed first with 446 points, followed by Madison Central (299.5) and St. Joseph Catholic (208). (October 19, 2010, Page 9)
Lady Chargers win opening swim meet
Oxford got its season off to a successful start as the Lady Chargers won the Tupelo High School Invitational Swim Meet held Saturday at the City Park pool. The Lady Chargers totaled 187 points, 21 more points than second-place finisher Tupelo. (more…) (August 30, 2010, Page 2B)
