Three former Rebels sign on with pro teams
Former Ole Miss players Jeremiah Masoli and Jonathan Cornell signed rookie free agent deals with NFL squads on Wednesday.
Masoli inked with the San Francisco 49ers as a running back, while Cornell signed with the Tennessee Titans as a linebacker. According to the Twitter account of former Ole Miss cornerback Jeremy McGee, the New Orleans native has been signed to a free agent deal by the New York Jets this morning. Sanders looking to make most of spring drills
It should go without saying that a lot is expected of wide receiver Vincent Sanders.

Rebel seniors reflect on good memories
Saturday evening’s game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the annual “Egg Bowl” will be the final home contest for 18 Ole Miss seniors. The class, which includes safeties Johnny Brown and Fon Ingram, linebacker Jonathan Cornell, and Oxford native Zach Brent, helped changed the fortune of the program over the past few seasons with back-to-back trips to the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic.
Two of the seniors who will honored before Saturday’s game, defensive tackle Jerrell Powe and defensive end Kentrell Lockett, could return next year, but for the majority of the class, the matchup with the Bulldogs will be the final time the group gets to put on the red and blue together. Nutt suspends two Rebels on Tuesday
Ole Miss’ depth on defense took a hit Tuesday when football coach Houston Nutt suspended cornerback Tony Grimes and end Delvin Jones. The freshmen from South Florida violated team rules by being lax on class attendance and the punishment will be missing the final two games, starting with Saturday’s contest at No. 5 LSU. Rebs looking to correct mistakes
Complacency and missed assignments seemed to be two of the biggest excuses given during Monday’s press conference with regards to the Rebels’ collapse against Jacksonville State on Saturday.
Several players in attendance said the team became too relaxed with its 21-point lead at half time and in doing so, “let go of the rope.”
Looking back, sophomore linebacker D.T. Shackelford said he hopes the team can learn from its mistakes moving forward. (September 8, 2010, Page 8)
Grimes ready to hit field
Tony Grimes has had a frustrating summer.
What was supposed to be a summer full of excitement and preparation for his first year in Oxford was instead spent wishing and waiting for the all the necessary paperwork to be approved for his admission into school.
That frustration turned into relief last week when the Hollywood Hills (Fla.) standout cornerback was approved by the NCAA as a full qualifier.
Grimes wasted no time getting to Oxford and was ready to start practicing once he got to campus. (August 27, 2010, Page 6A)
