Lafayette senior running back Demarkous Dennis said he has been eating a little less at meals than normal now that the MHSAA’s Class 4A playoffs have started. Focus is a word that has been used by both Lafayette coach Anthony Hart and his players this week when talking about the Greenwood Bulldogs. The No. 1 Commodores host the Bulldogs, a team they defeated 42-0 in the second game of the season, Friday night at William L. Buford Stadium in the second round of the MHSAA Class 4A playoffs.

Mississippi State football coach Dan Mullen’s arrival to Friday night’s game at William L. Buford Stadium via helicopter wasn’t enough to distract the No. 1 Lafayette Commodores from their mission of winning in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.

The answer to the question of exactly who the best team in Region 2-4A this year was answered in impressive fashion by the No. 1 ranked Lafayette Commodores Thursday night at William L. Buford Stadium. LHS showed its immense talent and depth on offense, defense and special teams with a one-sided 49-7 whitewashing of North Pontotoc.
Staying true to typical form, the Lafayette Commodores went on the road and up-ended Senatobia on senior night 48-8.
