It’s a good thing Anthony Hart has gone from being Lafayette’s head football coach to athletics director. Lafayette players dominate 2011 Region 2-4A roster

Lafayette’s football players dominated the Region 2-4A team, which was voted on and released Thursday by the region’s coaches. Quarterback Jeremy Liggins was named Player of the Year. Liggins’ leadership, dedication paced LHS in 2011

There were a lot reasons why the Lafayette Commodores finished the season ranked No. 1 overall in the state and with a second straight MHSAA Class 4A state title trophy to put on display. A bevy of talented players and a very organized coaching staff are at the top of the list of reasons why the Commodores reeled off another 16-0 season, but leadership provided by key players was also a major reason for the immense success. ‘Dores clean up MAC awards in 4A

Three days after claiming a second Class 4A state title, the Lafayette Commodores were on top of the football world in Mississippi.

Lafayette’s 16-0 record garnered them a final ranking of No. 1 in the final prep football poll released by the Associated Press Wednesday. LHS received five votes for No. 1, while Olive Branch, who won the 6A title, also claimed five votes to finish in a tie with the Commodores as the top team in the state. Liggins runs ‘Dores into 4A North Half title game

The Lafayette High football team finds itself in familiar territory — heading to play for the Class 4A North Half title.

Dean keeps Chargers’ playoff hopes alive with latest effort

Oxford remains in the hunt for the Class 5A playoffs today thanks to another great individual performance by senior running back Mont Dean. While the entire OHS team played a part in earning a 35-28 win over Saltillo this past Friday night, Dean’s 365-yard, five-touchdown performance was singularly the biggest contribution in a game the Chargers had to win.

It was that individual performance, on a week where several top players in the area stepped up to perform at a high level, that made him the Player of the Week for the third time this season. (October 25, 2011, Page 8)

Dores win in typical fashion, run over Warriors

SENATOBIA—Lafayette is nothing if not consistent.

Staying true to typical form, the Lafayette Commodores went on the road and up-ended Senatobia on senior night 48-8.

Lafayette Commodores win in typical fashion, cruise past Warriors

Lafayette’s whooping of Pontotoc on Friday was a pretty typical win for the Commodores.

If you’ve seen the ‘Dores this season, you know what that means.

Lafayette came out fast against the Warriors at William L. Buford Stadium, got an early lead and was able to play its reserves for much of the second half in the 48-7 victory. (September 26, 2011, Page 3B)

‘Dores reflect on big win over Evangel Christian
