Chargers overcome cold to finish 3-0 in Amory

Cold winter weather wasn’t enough to slow down the Oxford baseball from winning three games in the Amory Tournament. The Chargers improved to 5-1 on the season thanks to three wins in the tournament. Oxford defeated Tupelo 6-4 Friday night and then defeated East Union 4-2 and Itawamba AHS 5-4 on Saturday.

Chargers hold on to top North Pontotoc

Two postponed dates in the Pontotoc Tournament weren’t enough to deter the Oxford Chargers from earning their second win of the 2013 season Wednesday. The Chargers jumped out to a 3-0 lead on North Pontotoc in the first inning and then broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the seventh en route to a 5-4 win over the Vikings at Pontotoc High. The Oxford Middle School Chargers can scratch off another goal from their preseason checklist.

Thanks to dominant pitching from starter Houston Roth and an overpowering offense, the Chargers earned a 16-1 victory over Marshall Academy on Monday to advance to the Tri-Lakes Conference title game. (April 10, 2012, Page 8)

OMS secures playoff seeding, sweeps LMS

Monday’s middle school version of the Crosstown Classic had more on the line than just rivalry pride.

When Lafayette and Oxford met on the baseball diamond at Edwin Moak Field, both the Chargers and Commodores had a more immediate reward in mind — playoff seeding.

After claiming both games Monday 4-0 and 6-2, the Chargers secured the top spot in the Tri-Lakes Conference with a perfect league record. (April 3, 2012, Page 9)
