EMCC DT Reed feels good to be a Rebel
Mississippi’s junior college football programs have routinely produced some of the nation’s best talent each season and served Ole Miss in times of need. Monday, the Rebels were able to land another top player from the state in East Mississippi defensive tackle Jarran Reed. The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Reed picked the Rebels over offers from North Carolina, Mississippi State and others due to the interest he garnered from the Ole Miss staff, specifically defensive line coach Chris Kiffin and graduate assistant Tray Scott.
Reed, who is a native of Goldsboro, N.C., has been thinking about committing to the Rebels since he attended the Vanderbilt game on Nov. 10. Reed was planning to set up his official visits during the Christmas break but that changed after talking with his mother about playing for coach Hugh Freeze. (December 11, 2012, Page 8)
