NEW HOPE — The goals of winning the Division 2-5A Tournament title for the second straight season and earning a home playoff game Tuesday in the Class 5A playoffs didn’t materialize like Oxford Lady Chargers were hoping Friday night. Although OHS battled the New Hope Trojans down to the end and fared much, much better than the first meeting in the NHS gym, the Lady Chargers fell in the title game 64-58.
The New Hope Lady Trojans secured the Region 1-5A title Friday with a 67-46 victory at Oxford High on Friday.
Shayne Linzy’s goals for his Lady Chargers heading into the annual “O” Town Showdown were met with convincing results. Oxford defeated Independence 83-32 Friday night and Ashland 71-32 Saturday, improving the Lady Chargers to 13-3 overall. Linzy wanted to see his team continue to take steps improving in all phases as the Lady Chargers’ non-division portion of their schedule came to a close. (December 31, 2012, Page 6)
