Patton makes ‘easy decision’ to lead OHS Lady Chargers

It only took Chris Patton a split second to accept the offer to become Oxford High’s new girls track coach. Patton remembers Oxford Athletics Director Johnny Hill coming to him and asking if he wanted to take on the new role and Patton, who was already Oxford’s head cross-country coach and assistant track coach, didn’t hesitate, telling Hill yes as soon as the question hit his ears. (July 8, 2013, Page 6)

Oxford teams win Region 1-5A titles

Region 1-5A track titles were awarded to both the Oxford Chargers and Lady Chargers Monday night at Bobby Holcomb Field. OHS dominates EAGLE Invitational

Oxford’s track teams opened the 2013 season with a bang as both squads won Saturday’s Oxford EAGLE Invitational meet held at Bobby Holcomb Field. The Chargers more than doubled up second-place finisher West Bolivar (220-98) to win first place, while the Lady Chargers finished with 157 points, 25 more than second-place finisher Independence. Unified Chargers write perfect ending

COLUMN: CLINTON — Oxford’s historic run through the MHSAA Class 5A playoffs wasn’t supposed to happen. The Chargers, the team up north that every other program forgets about, couldn’t win the title, could they? Unified and hungry throughout, the Chargers overcame another obstacle and proved a lot of naysayers wrong in the process by defeating Pearl 2-0 to win their first soccer title Saturday night at Clinton High’s Arrow Field.
