Junior college presidents drop ball on local athletes, programs

COLUMN: Leave it to a collective group of college presidents to effectively tinker with something that isn’t broken.

When the junior college presidents of Mississippi decided late Tuesday that they were eliminating the protected recruiting list for all sports, getting rid of the current athletic districts and greatly reducing the amount of scholarships for out-of-state players, they all but killed junior college athletics in this state. Fumble, late score doom Rebs in opener

The line between winning and losing in college football is extremely fine. For the Ole Miss Rebels, a team that was looking to get off to a good start following a disappointing 4-8 season in 2010, Saturday’s season opening 14-13 loss to BYU at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium boiled down to just a few plays that prevented them from earning a much-needed victory.

Brassell latest to qualify for Rebels

The good news keeps coming for the Ole Miss football team. Joining recent qualifiers Tobias Singleton and Jamal Mosley is South Panola All-American Nick Brassell.
