Bulldogs maintain control of “Golden Egg”
A season that got off to a bad start and never got on track finally came to an end for the Ole Miss Rebels in the form of a 31-23 loss to the No. 25 Mississippi State Bulldogs Saturday night in front of a crowd of 58,625 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Despite a desire to make amends for last season’s loss to the Bulldogs, the Rebels were thoroughly outplayed again by the visitors from Starkville.
Ole Miss (4-8 overall, 1-7 in the Southeastern Conference) gave up 498 yards to the Bulldogs (8-4, 4-4) in the loss and made several key gaffes on offense that prevented them from ending the season on a high note. (November 29, 2010, Page 1B)

Rebels, coaches pleased with improved execution
The ultimate goal for the Ole Miss Rebels heading into Saturday’s matchup with the No. 5 LSU Tigers at Tiger Stadium was to return to Oxford with a big upset win.
That didn’t work out for the Rebels against one of their biggest rivals, but the effort and overall execution of the team was much improved a week after suffering a disappointing loss at Tennessee.
Ole Miss finished the game with 420 total yards and scored points almost at will in the 43-36 loss. The defense was unable to hold the Tigers late in the game when it mattered most, but the unit didn’t give up a ton of explosive plays that have hindered them in other losses this year. OM’s Nutt gives impassioned speech about team, program
Ole Miss’ struggles on the gridiron this season have not been taken lightly by the players and coaching staff.
Why is that blatantly clear?
Well, in part because of head coach Houston Nutt’s opening statement that kicked off his weekly press conference on Monday.

Miscues hurt Rebels again in loss
Ole Miss’ November to Remember has quickly turned into a situation every Rebel fan would like to forget.
A week after starting the final and most important month of the season with a Homecoming win over Louisiana-Lafayette, the Rebels found themselves as the victim of a one-sided Homecoming loss at the hands of the Tennessee Volunteers.
Led by the passing of freshman quarterback Tyler Bray, and aided by five Ole Miss turnovers, the Volunteers earned their first Southeastern Conference win of the season by throttling the Rebels 52-14 in front of a crowd of 96,044 at Neyland Stadium. (November 15, 2010, Page 1B)
Mistakes cost Rebels at Arkansas
Miscues and missed opportunities, the two things that have consistently hurt the Ole Miss Rebels at the most critical times this season, proved to be their undoing again in a 38-24 loss to No. 21 Arkansas Saturday at Reynolds Razorback Field.
Despite falling behind 21-0 in the first half, the Rebels (3-4 overall, 1-3 in the Southeastern Conference) had a real opportunity to earn a rare road win late in a game that lasted over five hours due to two weather delays.
Two touchdown passes from Ole Miss quarterback Jeremiah Masoli, who accounted for over 400 total yards, to Markeith Summers in the fourth quarter pulled the Rebels to within one touchdown (31-24) of the Razorbacks (5-2, 2-2) with just over nine minutes left in the game. (October 25, 2010, Page 1B)
Weather will be most-remembered
Saturday’s game between the Ole Miss Rebels and No. 21 Arkansas Razorbacks at Reynolds Razorback Stadium will not be remembered for Ole Miss quarterback Jeremiah Masoli’s big offensive day, or the performance of Arkansas running back Knile Davis as much as for the weather.
Heavy rainstorms that moved across the Northwest Arkansas area Saturday afternoon caused play to be stopped twice. The first delay was 58 minutes in length, while the second took up 31 minutes. Those two delays, coupled with regular game action of 3 hours and 24 minutes, made the atmosphere surrounding the game very interesting to say the least. (October 25, 2010, Page 2B)
Penalties, Richardson do in Rebs
Ole Miss proved to be a hospitable guest Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Critical penalties, a slow first half and a busted tackle on Trent Richardson’s 85-yard touchdown reception proved to be too much on Saturday as the Ole Miss Rebels fell at No. 8 Alabama 23-10.
By the end of the game, the Rebels, who entered the game as the Southeastern Conference’s least-penalized team, committed 10 penalties for 106 yards. (October 18, 2010, Page 1B)
