Colts take Moncrief in third round

Andrew Luck has a new target to throw to in Indianapolis. Former Ole Miss wide receiver Donte Moncrief was selected by the Colts in the third round of the NFL Draft Friday night, becoming the 90th player taken overall. Moncrief decided to forego his senior season after hauling in 59 passes for 938 yards and six touchdowns in 2013. (May 12, 2014, Page 9)

McCray ready to step up if needed

Much to his delight, Emmanuel McCray may be in line to start his final game as an Ole Miss Rebel. (December 20, 2013, Page 6A)

Tech’s defense has Rebels’ attention

Much of the focus heading into Ole Miss’ matchup with Georgia Tech in the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl on Dec. 30 is centered on how the Rebels are going to contain a Yellow Jacket triple-option offense that’s rushing for the nation’s fifth-most yards per game. But Ole Miss hasn’t forgotten about Georgia Tech’s defense. (December 18, 2013, Page 2B)

Rebels aren’t satisifed with bare minimum

Ole Miss has already locked up a bowl berth with three games left in the regular season and has a game it should win easily this Saturday when the Rebels host Troy in their final non-conference game at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. (November 12, 2013, Page 6)

Rebels top Hogs to earn postseason bid

Ole Miss didn’t have its best performance, but it was good enough to ensure the Rebels would be playing beyond the regular season. (November 11, 2013, Page 1B)

No. 21 Rebels ready to gauge themselves against ‘the standard’

Ole Miss has built some momentum under second-year head coach Hugh Freeze, winning its last five games dating back to last season and vaulting into the rankings for the first time since 2009.
Now the No. 21-ranked Rebels get to see exactly how far they’ve come in the form of a trip to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to tangle with two-time defending national champion and No. 1 Alabama this Saturday. (September 24, 2013, Page 6)

Sluggish start ends with energy for Rebs

As has been the case for much of the spring, Hugh Freeze saw some areas he was encouraged by and others that were disappointing during Wednesday’s practice at the Indoor Practice Facility.

With only a handful of practices remaining in the spring season, culminating in the annual Grove Bowl on April 13, the Rebels are still searching for consistency from day to day.

Freeze would make same call again

Hugh Freeze spent an ample portion of Monday’s press conference discussing the past rather than the future.

Two days before, the Rebels had their first Southeastern Conference win in 16 attempts within grasp. Had one of any number of plays gone Ole Miss’ way, the Rebels may have pulled out the elusive win. (more…) (October 9, 2012, Page 6)
