There was actually a smile on Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze’s face following Saturday’s scrimmage at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. With a a week to finish up spring drills and a day after the offense couldn’t do anything against the defense, Freeze had more positive things to say about the way his offense performed. COLUMN: Oxford was a busy town over the weekend for more reasons than just the return of the Ole Miss student body. Ole Miss football coach Hugh Freeze, his staff and some of his players hosted a number of recruits for official visits.

BATESVILLE — It’s not often that a high school program as dominant as South Panola has been the last 18 years has a first of any kind to publicize. For a program that has won nine state championships and seen countless players sign Division I offers and star at Northwest Mississippi Community College over the same period, it’s hard to believe that a Tiger hasn’t played in one of the top high school All-Star games in the nation.
