Chargers overcome cold to finish 3-0 in Amory
Cold winter weather wasn’t enough to slow down the Oxford baseball from winning three games in the Amory Tournament. The Chargers improved to 5-1 on the season thanks to three wins in the tournament. Oxford defeated Tupelo 6-4 Friday night and then defeated East Union 4-2 and Itawamba AHS 5-4 on Saturday.
Chargers hold on to top North Pontotoc
Two postponed dates in the Pontotoc Tournament weren’t enough to deter the Oxford Chargers from earning their second win of the 2013 season Wednesday. The Chargers jumped out to a 3-0 lead on North Pontotoc in the first inning and then broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the seventh en route to a 5-4 win over the Vikings at Pontotoc High. OHS Chargers changing on the fly
Chris Baughman was thrown a looping curveball recently when senior Parker Adamson announced his decision to skip baseball season to focus on his future as a Southern Miss quarterback.

Amory Panthers end Oxford’s title hunt
NEW ALBANY — Oxford’s successful summer baseball season didn’t end the way coach Chris Baughman or his Chargers were hoping. After earning a first-round bye following a win in the final game of the Oxford Regional of the NEMCABB Tournament, the Chargers were eliminated Tuesday by Amory at BNA Park.
Oxford started its day on a high note with a 12-0 win over New Albany but shortly after lunch, the Chargers were packing up their gear until next spring due to a 4-2 loss to the Panthers. (June 27, 2012, Page 7)
Oxford tops Lafayette to earn top seed
An intensity not seen since the spring was the backdrop of Friday night’s game between Lafayette and Oxford in the NEMCAAB Tournament Oxford Regional Final. The Chargers defeated the Commodores 5-3 at Edwin Moak Field to earn the top seed from regional play in this week’s single-elimination portion of the tournament being played in New Albany.
For first-year Lafayette coach Patrick Robey, Friday’s title game was played with a noticeable difference compared to other summer league games. (June 25, 2012, Page 7)

Stanley leads Lafayette’s magical run
Lafayette’s run through the Class 4A playoffs that ultimately led to a spot in the North Half title series was made possible through a total team effort. That much was evident by the way the Commodores played through the last half of the season. But as unified as the team was, the player that got them to that point and really made the team believe that good things were going to happen was senior pitcher/infielder Luke Stanley. OHS sweeps Bulldogs to start summer
Oxford’s summer baseball season got off to a good start Tuesday evening with 9-2 and 3-1 wins over New Albany at Edwin Moak Field. In the first game of the doubleheader, the Chargers overcame a 2-1 deficit in the fourth inning by scoring two runs. (May 30, 2012, Page 6)
OHS rallies past defending 5A champions
