Davis, Pruitt claim first tennis title for Lafayette

Lafayette’s Mallory Davis and Barron Pruitt made history Tuesday as the duo captured the first individual state tennis championship in Jackson. Lafayette qualifies six tennis players for state

Six members of the Lafayette tennis team won two matches at the Division 2-4A Tournament to advance to MHSAA individual state tournament this week.  The No. 1 boys doubles team of Hunter Knight and Jacob Roberts made the list as did the No. 1 girls doubles team of Lauren Cullen and Ashley Smith. Also advancing were the mixed doubles team of Mallory Davis and Barron Pruitt. The state tournament will be held May 9-10 in Jackson. (April 22, 2011, Page 7A)
