Chamber celebrates year of growth

Oxford-Lafayette Chamber of Commerce noted growth at this year’s annual banquet at the Oxford Conference Center Thursday. Chamber membership grew by 20 businesses, Chamber website received a large increase in page views, and new head of chamber board of directors Jordan Bankhead started her term. Shaw named Citizen of the Year

The Oxford-Lafayette County Chamber of Commerce held its annual dinner Tuesday night at the Oxford Conference Center. For their service to the LOU community, Dr. Jean Shaw was recognized as Citizen of the Year and Lynn Wells was presented the Outstanding Service Award. (June 8, 2011, Page 1A)

Holli’s gets a new hand-made sign

Piper Clark and her grandpa Joe are regulars at Holli’s so when they learned about her stolen sign in August they set out to make her a new one. The new sign was hung on Thursday. (November 1, 2010, Page 7A)

Pink Dress Run event set for tonight

People of all ages, from business owners to preschoolers, are getting involved in the Pink Dress Run benefit to promote breast cancer awareness.

The Pink Dress Run will be held tonight from 6 to 8:30 on the Square. Registration is $15 and the run will begin at the Mid-Town Shopping Center on North Lamar Boulevard and end at the Square. And, of course, participants are asked to wear pink. (October 28, 2010, Page 1)

Crowder named top ‘citizen’

Hollis Crowder was named Citizen of the Year at Thursday’s Oxford-Lafayette Chamber of Commerce dinner. Crowder, in only three years in Oxford, has become renowned for his generosity and volunteerism. Sam Haskell served as the guest speaker. (June 11, 2010, Page 1a, 3a)
