Stanley leads Lafayette’s magical run
Lafayette’s run through the Class 4A playoffs that ultimately led to a spot in the North Half title series was made possible through a total team effort. That much was evident by the way the Commodores played through the last half of the season. But as unified as the team was, the player that got them to that point and really made the team believe that good things were going to happen was senior pitcher/infielder Luke Stanley. OHS sweeps Bulldogs to start summer

Hernando capitalizes on OHS miscues, sweeps series
A game filled with mistakes was almost erased by the Oxford Chargers’ best offensive inning of their MHSAA Class 5A quarterfinal series with Hernando Saturday night at Edwin Moak Field. Lear’s home run lifts Chargers past Trojans
Tuesday night’s game against New Hope felt awfully familiar for Oxford senior James Lear. Just nine days after lifting the Chargers to a dramatic win over Lafayette through the power of a two-run home run, Lear propelled the Chargers to a 4-2 victory over the Trojans with another two-run blast. OHS earns division win over West Point
Oxford sophomore pitcher Hunter Roth didn’t realize just how important Friday night’s 5-1 win over West Point really was until after the game.
Sure, Roth knew it improved the Chargers’ record within Division 2-5A play, but the significance didn’t really hit him, or the other members of the team, until after OHS coach Chris Baughman got through talking with them. (April 9, 2012, Page 8)

It seems like a safe bet that Oxford senior James Lear will remember the last two days of March 2012 when he reflects on his high school career in a few years. One night after earning a save in Oxford’s 5-4 win over Saltillo, Lear led the Chargers to a 10-8 win over cross-town rival Lafayette at W.V. Brewer Field on Saturday afternoon.
