Oxford ended the regular season on a high with two impressive wins over Tupelo and Amory. The Chargers enter their MHSAA Class 5A playoff series against Starkville coming off a 2-0 win over Tupelo Friday and a 6-3 win over Amory in eight innings on Saturday afternoon. The two wins improved the Chargers to 22-6 overall.
Oxford’s pitching, defense and hitting all worked together Tuesday night as the Chargers defeated Saltillo 10-0 in five innings at Edwin Moak Field. It was the first win in Division 2-5A play for the Chargers, who host another division foe, New Hope, tonight at 6. (more…) (March 27, 2013, Page 9)
Cold winter weather wasn’t enough to slow down the Oxford baseball from winning three games in the Amory Tournament. The Chargers improved to 5-1 on the season thanks to three wins in the tournament. Oxford defeated Tupelo 6-4 Friday night and then defeated East Union 4-2 and Itawamba AHS 5-4 on Saturday.
Two postponed dates in the Pontotoc Tournament weren’t enough to deter the Oxford Chargers from earning their second win of the 2013 season Wednesday. The Chargers jumped out to a 3-0 lead on North Pontotoc in the first inning and then broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the seventh en route to a 5-4 win over the Vikings at Pontotoc High.
