The county prosecutor from Hancock County spent four hours behind bars Saturday after being arrested for public drunkenness and simple assault.

According to the Lafayette County Detention Center, Olen Anderson, 45, of Bay St. Louis, was arrested at about 5 p.m. and charged with public drunkenness.

The University of Mississippi reported the arrest along with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department.

He was taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he remained until about 9 p.m. Saturday until posting bond.

Public drunkenness is a misdemeanor charge.
