LHS takes down Devils

Lafayette coach Greg Lewis knew his Commodores didn’t play their best against Oxford to start Saturday’s baseball fest at W.V. Brewer Field. Instead of changing the lineup drastically against Water Valley on Saturday night, Lewis decided to let his team work itself back into normal form.

The end result was a much better approach at the plate in a 15-5 win over the Blue Devils in five innings. (April 4, 2011, Page 7A)

Pitching propels ‘Dores to double-dip success

It wasn’t that the Diamond ‘Dores racked up 12 runs in two victories on Wednesday that impressed Lafayette head coach Greg Lewis.

Sure, it was nice that the Commodores were able to hold on for a 5-3 victory over Hernando earlier in the day and then cruise to a 7-1 victory over Independence in the nightcap of the Lafayette extension of Oxford’s Spring Break Tournament. (more…) (March 17, 2011, Page 8)
