Veterans’ supporters give generously

The campaign, “Stand Behind Those That Stood in Front of Us,” kicked off in March with the group aiming to raise the money by March 2012. Through the generosity of local people and organizations, the group has raised more than $33,000 with seven months to go in the year-long campaign. (August 29, 2011, Page 1A)

Group effort made to bring vets’ home to Oxford

The community worked together to bring the Mississippi State Veterans Home to Oxford in 1996 – four years after the State Veteran’s Affairs Board announced its intent to build three homes around Mississippi. Today, the community’s support of the home is just as important as it was 15 years ago. To help show support of our veterans, the Oxford EAGLE will be running a weekly profile of several veterans living at the home today. (April 18, 2011, Page 1A)

Vets home to start fund drive

A committee has been formed to help the State Veterans Home in Oxford raise $30,000 over the next year. Local fundraisers and projects will be held throughout the year to raise funds that will be used to upgrade medical equipment and make much-needed renovations to the 15-year-old home. (February 24, 2011, Page 1)
