UT not volunteering Rebels an easy win
Ole Miss’ drive to make a bowl game after its subpar start to the year continues Saturday with a road trip to Knoxville, Tenn., to play the unranked Tennessee Volunteers.
The Rebels (4-5 overall, 1-4 in the Southeastern Conference) started November strong with a much needed 43-21 win over Louisiana-Lafayette last Saturday and the players are looking to build on that success against a Tennessee team that is just 3-6 and 0-5 in the league. (November 12, 2010, Page 6A)
Dooley re-connects with Volunteer fans
It may be a while before Derek Dooley can revive the Tennessee Volunteers into a championship contender, but he is trying and doing everything he can to make it happen sooner rather than later.
Dooley was hired from Louisiana Tech in January to clean up the mess left by former coach Lane Kiffin. The Volunteers may have gone 7-6 overall last year, but the way Kiffin departed, and the amount of damage he did to the program’s reputation in recruiting with the NCAA, left many feeling like the Volunteers were a sub .500 team.
