Highway 6 dedicated to wounded heroes

Supervisors rename Hwy. 6 to honor veterans
Following Pontotoc and Lee counties, the Lafayette County Board of Supervisors agreed to support renaming the portion of Highway 6 that runs through Lafayette County to The Military Order of the Purple Heart Highway. (August 2, 2011, Page 1)
Vets show appreciation for Nutt’s Middle East trip
On Wednesday, the Oxford Military Order of the Purple Heart presented University of Mississippi head football coach Houston Nutt with a plaque of appreciation for Nutt visiting troops in the Middle East two years as part of the Under Armour Coaches Tour. (April 21, 2011, Page 8)
Health effort proves popular
More than 600 people signed up earlier this month for the new health initiative, “Healthy You, Healthy L.O.U.” Many of those same people took advantage of the free hour-long ballroom dancing session offered for those participating in the program Thursday evening at the Oxford Conference Center. The five-month long program will feature special exercise programs and speakers like Patrick House, the winner of season 10 Biggest Loser who be in Oxford Feb. 1 at 6 p.m. at North Oxford Baptist Church. Priority seating goes to those in the program, however the doors will open at 5:45 p.m. for the general public. (January 21, 2011, Page 1A)
