Bevy of athletes prepare for MHSAA state meet
Athletes from Oxford, Lafayette and Water Valley will be taking part in the MHSAA state track meets this weekend. The Class 1A, 3A and 5A meets will be held Saturday at Pearl. The 2A, 4A and 6A meets will be held Monday at PHS. Saturday’s meets begins with field events at 10 a.m. Monday’s meets begins at 11 a.m.
Oxford teams win Region 1-5A titles
Region 1-5A track titles were awarded to both the Oxford Chargers and Lady Chargers Monday night at Bobby Holcomb Field. The Chargers defeated Center Hill to capture the title thanks to a point total of 196, while the Lady Chargers almost doubled New Hope (185-96) to win their title. (more…) (April 30, 2013, Page 8)
Oxford dominates 2-5A meet
“Dominant.” That’s what the Oxford Chargers and Lady Chargers were in the Division 2-5A track meet held Friday at Bobby Holcomb Field. Both teams finished first in the annual meet, with the Chargers scoring 122 points, almost double second-place finisher West Point with 64. Lafayette’s Hamann makes history
CLINTON — The Lafayette girls, sparked by individual gold medalist Peyton Hamann and two others in the top six performers, claimed third place in the MHSAA Class 4A state cross-country meet held Saturday at Mississippi College’s Choctaw Trails.
The Oxford Chargers came in third in the Class 5A boys state cross-country meet, while the OHS girls and Lafayette boys each finished fourth in their team competitions. (more…) (November 12, 2012, Page 4B)

OHS fares well at Pontotoc Invitational
The Oxford cross-country teams fared well at this weekend’s Pontotoc Invitational, finishing second out of 13 squads. Tristan Orman led the boys with a seventh-place finish with a time of 17 minutes, 39 seconds, while Emily Hankins paced the Lady Chargers with a 16:31 mark that was good enough for sixth.
