Dedication and perseverance proved to be two of the main reasons why Oxford and Lafayette had such successful cross country seasons this fall. In a year where both programs had to rely on underclassmen to not only fill out the roster, but perform at a high level, having nine runners earn the distinction of being All-State was a tremendous achievement.
The Lady Chargers and Lady Commodores each had three runners finish in the top 14 at the state meet held at Choctaw Trails in Clinton on Nov. 6. Earning All-State from Oxford were sophomore Callie Mayo, eighth-grader Emily Hankins and sophomore Audrey Dayan. (December 2, 2010, Page 1B)
Oxford’s final cross country meet before the MHSAA State Championships produced two second-place finishes for the Chargers and Lady Chargers in the Division 1-5A meet held in Saltillo Saturday.
Saltillo won both titles Saturday, while New Hope also competed in the meet. (November 1, 2010, Page 3B)
