Luke expects OM to have depth in ‘13
Increased depth is something Ole Miss offensive line coach Matt Luke feels like he will have in 2013 thanks to the extra bowl practices garnered this month.
Instead of getting by with five or six offensive linemen like he did this year, Luke feels like he will be able to rotate eight guys up front next season. (December 21, 2012, Page 6A)
Rebels continue to struggle offensively
Ole Miss’ first day in full pads proved to be another strong day for the defense as the Rebels continued to struggled with turnovers. Whether it was interceptions or miscues on snaps out of the shotgun, first-year coach Hugh Freeze wasn’t too pleased with how his offense performed in team situations following Tuesday’s morning practice. Quick hits from Nutt’s weekly press conference
BLOG: As to be expected, questions during today’s weekly press conference with Houston Nutt focused Alabama.

Rebels begin important second season Saturday
The second half of the season begins Saturday with a pivotal game for the Ole Miss Rebels and No. 21 Arkansas Razorbacks. Since Houston Nutt came to Oxford to coach the Rebels, the Arkansas game has been circled on the calendar for both fan bases.
Nutt has routinely tried to downplay his personal involvement in the game, but the fact remains that his Rebels have used wins over the Razorbacks the last two years as launching pads to successful seasons that ultimately ended with wins in back-to-back Cotton Bowls.
Ole Miss (3-3 overall, 1-2 in the Southeastern Conference) may be the underdog in Saturday’s game at Reynolds Razorback Stadium, but there is still a glimmer of hope that a third-straight win over Arkansas (4-2, 1-2) would go a long way to turning around a season that got off to a start Nutt didn’t anticipate. Nutt focused on football, not emotions of return to Ark.
Apparently Houston Nutt used to coach at Arkansas.
During Monday’s regularly scheduled press conference at the Indoor Practice Facility, Nutt brushed off a question regarding his trip back to Arkansas, where he coached for 10 seasons.
Asked if he felt there were still emotions surrounding his pending trip back to Fayetteville, Ark., Nutt said: “I think it has died down a little bit. I am sure there is a few people that still want to see Houston Nutt beat. The thing I am more concerned about is being focused on the task at hand. (October 19, 2010, Page 8)
Rebels to lean on Swindall at ‘Bama
Starting a new center against one of the nation’s best defenses isn’t exactly what Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt would have planned two weeks ago, but it’s the situation he now faces with starter A.J. Hawkins banged up.
Freshman Evan Swindall has been practicing as the team’s new No. 1 center with Hawkins still recovering from an injury suffered against Kentucky.
The 6-foot-3, 295-pound Swindall came in late for Hawkins against the Wildcats and it appears that he will start for the Rebels when they take on No. 8 Alabama in Tuscaloosa Saturday night. (October 14, 2010, Page 7)
