Lady Rebs welcome plenty of new faces
“Hello my name is:” name tags should have been mandatory when the Ole Miss soccer team opened camp this week.
Entering Year 3 under the tutelage of head coach Matt Mott, nearly half of the Lady Rebels’ roster features newcomers as 12 of the 25 players are either freshmen or transfers. (August 3, 2012, Page 6A)
Cunningham lifts OM past Kentucky
Ole Miss’ 2-1 overtime win on Thursday’s Senior Night could not have been scripted any better.
With postseason aspirations still hanging in the balance, it seemed only fitting that the Lady Rebels’ lone senior, Taylor Cunningham, would score the golden goal in overtime that lifted Ole Miss past Kentucky and kept their post-season hopes alive.
Tied at 1-1 with the first overtime period winding down, Ole Miss midfielder Dylan Jordan put a crossing pass just in front of the Kentucky net from the left flank.
After the ball was kicked around a bit by Ole Miss’ Erin Emerson and a Kentucky defender in the box, Cunningham was able to swoop in from the right side and bury the loose ball past keeper Sydney Hiance. (October 22, 2010, Page 6A)
