Fast only partial describes the way the Oxford Lady Chargers looked and played in the first half of their 70-49 win over North Panola in their first game of the “O” Town Showdown Wednesday night. Oxford’s energy, merged with its fantastic full-court press on defense, was smothering to the Lady Cougars, who found themselves down 30 points (35-5) at end of the first quarter. Oxford’s girls and boys basketball seasons may be in their infancy stages, but both head coaches are focused on the future and certain aspects that will both make their respective teams better.

Playing in a tournament hosted at Tupelo Monday, the Oxford boys and girls basketball teams swept Okolona. The Lady Chargers improved to 2-0 with a 95-10 win.
